Alternatives in Motion has a new Office Manager, Jon! We are so happy to be working with Jon and he is a great addition to our team. Jon is from Zeeland, Michigan and has lived there his whole life, but he loves the Grand Rapids area. He graduated from Grand Valley in 2014 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Accounting. His education and prior work experience help him excel in this position as an Office Manager. Jon’s parents also have Greenhouses, so he learned the value of teamwork at an early age. His values and skills definitely shine through his work at AIM!
During COVID-19 and the stay at home orders, Jon has kept busy playing video games, watching Netflix and Youtube, and also having friendly social distancing bonfires. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and playing video games.
Jon found out about AIM through one of our volunteers, Linda Cole. After learning about our open position, Jon was immediately interested in working at AIM. Jon has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, which contributed to him wanting to use his knowledge and experience to help our organization succeed. Jon enjoys answering people’s questions about wheelchairs and other mobility equipment that we disburse.
Although Jon has not been here long, his favorite part about working at AIM is the environment. The staff and volunteers at AIM are like family to him, and the different tasks associated with his position keep the day flowing smoothly and also make working here fun for him.
Jon’s previous non-profit work experience made him want to continue to work for a non-profit. He has non-profit experience working as a bookkeeper, completing the books for an orphanage in Haiti, so he believed that this job at our non-profit would be a natural fit for him. Jon hopes that the work he does at AIM will impact others in a positive manner. We are excited to have Jon on our team and are looking forward to the great work that he does here!
